Cara Yergen MD, DFAPA

Board Certified Psychiatrist

I am a Board-Certified psychiatrist and a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. In 2023, I was granted recognition as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association joining an elite group of psychiatrists with this honorary distinction. I was born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts and lived there until after college when I went off to medical school.  I completed my residency training at the Institute of Living at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. I spent my final year in residency as the Chief Psychiatry Resident and have been practicing psychiatry since 2009. In my years since training, I have practiced in many different psychiatric settings giving me a solid, well-rounded knowledge and experience base.

My home base is in Florida with my husband.  I found my way to Florida from the Northeast when my parents retired in Florida around the time I finished my psychiatry residency training.

A couple fun facts about me: I lived in Key West for a few years as it was where I took my 1st psychiatrist job. I also make an amazing pot of sauce, meatballs, and pizza thanks to my mom.  My favorite places to relax are walking or running around my neighborhood and just spending quiet time at home. I am a huge Disney fan. My husband and I try to visit the parks whenever we can.
